My school is closed until May 1st and this week was the first week of distance learning. Students are tasked to finish their assignments for the day. While there is no live instruction, I am posting “lectures” and videos. The funny thing about all of this is students who normally did not do work in class are doing work now. It’s interesting. Why is that? A couple of reasons: flexibility to finish on their own time, no distractions at school (showing off to their friends via class disruptions), their parents are ensuring they get it done, and there is nothing else to do.
This has spawned a slew ideas about school and what school should look like. More to come…
