These are four principles that are beginning to govern my process. I don’t believe it’s a finished list but principles I’ve found to be essential.

1. Know your characters
2. Do the groundwork
3. Get to the rewrite stage as effectively as possible
4. Focus on the rewrite / “Make it sing”
