Onwards to chapter seven. The pass system I created works well. It is efficient and productive, as well as conducive to additional revisions. As I’ve become more intimate with the book, by re-reading again and again, I’m thinking of more ideas to embed within the narrative. Not necessarily making it different, but making it more aligned with the goals of the character, and adding more “flavor” in the prose.

I need to remind myself it’s acceptable to write with efficiency. I’m so accustomed to laboring over the words. When I finish a chapter quickly, even if I re-read it and I like it a lot, I harbor self-doubt because I didn’t strain, sweat and tears, in order to finish.
